If you want your website penalty free on Google, you’ll want to read this. The evil, black hat search engine guys sometimes get websites to the top of the search engines using these tricks.
Don’t be fooled by anyone using these methods for short term Google gains.
These guys will cash a fat check from you. Then leave you right before Google kicks your keister to the curb.
First, avoid low quality web pages with thin content.
What do I mean by low quality? It’s a web page that doesn’t have much real information on it. Sometimes the information is “scraped” from other websites.
Here’s why it works sometimes, FOR A LITTLE WHILE …
Google generally likes larger websites. That’s why this method may work in the short run. But Google almost always figures out what you’re doing. And all the time and money spent building these low quality pages eventually hurts more than it helps.
You want quality information on your web pages. Information that real people find helpful. Not fake information created to fool Google for specific keywords.
Second, avoid getting too many links to your website too fast. One of the hallmarks of a spammy SEO guy, is that they create a bunch of “manufactured” links to your website from their farm of other websites. Google crawls these websites and follows the links back to your website.
This might fool Google for a little bit. But Google will put you in their penalty box for it. Good luck getting out of that.
It’s much wiser to earn fewer links from high quality, more authoritative websites.
Avoid links from irrelevant places. You want links from websites in your own neighborhood. Links from the trade magazines or from places where your industry typically gets links.
If you sell car parts, but you’re getting links from a lingerie website and a website selling Viagra, Google will figure it out. Beware.
Don’t use sneaky redirect code. The evil, black hat SEO guys use code that shows Google one thing, but redirects people to another page. This is bad news. Run away as fast as you can from any SEO guy that uses this method to trick Google.
In summary, don’t fall for short term tricks to get better search engine rankings. Make sure your website is filled with high quality content. Earn links from high quality authoritative websites.
